There is a tangible sense of fun in Angela Smyth’s paintings of vivacious animals and curvaceous ladies. This sense of cheer is apparent in Angela’s motto that, “If you can’t say anything good – say nothing”. So here we have all things that are good in life, luscious ladies, sticky cupcakes, birdsong, loving dogs and curious cats. This is a world where everybody looks skyward ( unless they are looking down at cake !) and where everyone, not only the cats have “got the cream”.
Encouraged, firstly, by her father Angela now finds inspiration in her hometown and the people who live there, a town so full of characters that “she can’t imagine ever running out of inspiration”.
Working from a gorgeous converted cashmere mill in West Yorkshire, and with an ever-growing waiting list, Angela cannot work fast enough.
