James Bartholomew’s love of the sea takes him on regular trips around the British coast, particularly to Cornwall, Pembrokeshire and the Scottish islands. The changing moods, conditions and physicality of this subject, perfectly suiting James’s vibrant, animated and energetic painting style. He has also done considerable bodies of work in France, Tuscany, Venice and more recently New York.
Lancashire based artist James Bartholomew is a member of The Royal Society of Marine Artists and The Manchester Academy of Fine Art. His seascape and landscape paintings have collected several prestigious awards, including the Charles Pears Award and the Sir Peter Scott Award. Work has also been commissioned by the Sunday Times, the British Tourist Authority, the BBC, Bonhams and Chevron Oil.
