I am a practising artist working & living in the Calder Valley. I mainly paint in oil‘s and use this medium to capture texture and bold colour.
I do paint a wide range of subjects and find it impossible to box myself into a single theme or genre.
The folk lore & traditions of “animals” in art is a subject of great interest to me. Hares are a subject of choice, with this imagery comes an interesting representation of what this animal has and means too many cultures. The hare is associated with madness, femininity, sexuality and cunningness to name but a few.
As a result, people are constantly drawn to its form, showing a real fondness to a magical creature. And it is this character and charm, that I intend to honour in my work. Linking the hares historical stereotype and celebrate its symbolic presence.
